The HMSD (Head Mounted Signal Device) was originally developed for the English Institute Of Sport (EIOS) as a proving principle prototype for British cycling coaches and riders as a method of legal communication with their riders during races and training.

Initially brought in as a consultant to EIOS to assess the viability of using a Head Up device’s in British Cycling training. This developed into a research and development project, assessing and testing different methods of communication with riders and coaches.

The research, development and visual presentations were used to secure £1.5 million project with BAE Systems, to develop further the concept that is now being manufactured for British Cycling for use in the 2012 British Olympics.
